Setting up Your Bedroom with a Wicker Bed

Shopping isn’t always an easy task, especially when you are looking to replace a large item like a bed frame.

Wicker frames come in several designs that can make it difficult to choose what is right for you.

To make things easier, here are some tips on choosing wicker bed frames along with a quick guide on how to use them.

  • Before you buy a wicker bed, do an online search of wicker bed along with images to see what styles you like best.

  • A good bed will have no more than 15 spokes on each side frame, whereas lower-quality beds may have over 40 spokes per side frame.

  • Higher-quality beds will be made from straight-grained cedar wood, while low-quality beds are usually made with thin strips of cedar glued together.

  • If you find a bed that is reasonably priced but has only 10 spokes instead of 15, chances are it’s cheaply made.

  • Choose white or natural colored rattan frames so your bed matches any existing décor in your home; brown or black frames tend to look out of place when set against modern furnishings.

  • After buying all your bed hardware (and keeping in mind how much weight your bed must support), add up how much everything costs and shop around for prices at different furniture stores before making your final decision.

  • Always take measurements before purchasing any kind of furniture—even though manufacturers provide detailed size specifications, things are not always as they seem!

  • If you have room in your bedroom, try placing two twin mattresses on top of one another, using them as a base upon which to build your own DIY platform bed.

  • Make sure each slat that supports a mattress is approximately half an inch apart—if too few slats are used then there will be too much give in your mattress and it could sag heavily after some time; if too many slats are used then your mattress may rock excessively when getting into or out of bed.

  • Even if you really love a particular bed, don’t purchase it without first checking its build quality: shake each sideframe to see if it wobbles; test whether there are gaps between spokes; inspect joints closely and make sure none of them are weak.
